Work Experience

CATALIS

January 24, 2023 - August 31, 2023

Front-end Developer Co-op Student

In my time at CATALIS I worked as a front-end developer, turning designer's concepts into reality. We began with a template, and would use mostly CSS in combination with some JavaScript and C# to style and add functionality to the website. I worked using two different CMS systems, providing some well-rounded experience. Some examples of my work can be found at:

Antarctic Institute of Canada

May, 2020 - January, 2023

Program Officer/Audiobook Producer

The Antarctic Institute of Canada (AIC) is a non-profit organization in Edmonton, Alberta ran by Dr. Austin Mardon, CM. The AIC uses funding from the Government of Canada, mainy Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ), to employ students to write research books and papers. In 2020, I began working and volunteering with the AIC to turn the library of books into audiobooks. With the help of some dedicated narrators, we published over 200 audiobooks to Amazon, Audible, Apple Books, and Audiobooks.Com. While with the AIC I also co-authored two books, "Succeeding with Schizophrenia" and "The 2nd Annual Antarctic Institute of Canada Conference Anthology." You can find a thorough list of all my publications on the publications page or on my CV, linked in the footer of the site.

Terra Dynamics

May, 2018 - April, 2020

Landscaper/Skid-steer Operator

Terra Dynamics is a landscaping company that services mostly new builds. Our crew would take new homes through pre- and rough- grading (with clay) and then final-grade with soil. Afterwards we laid sod, planted trees and shrubs, and built gardens. I did my fair share of labour, but operated skid-steers (Bobcat S70 and T/S590) for most of the back half of my time there. I learned valuable skills in teamwork and hard work, as well as some skills that will be with me forever, such as skid-steer operation, and connecting and towing a trailer (bumper-pull and gooseneck). I left in 2020 when COVID came around, and decided not to go back and instead go back to university.

Hobbies & Extra-Curriculars

I enjoy many things outside of work and study, including reading, hiking, and video games. I would say my most frequented hobbies include photography, which you can find examples of my work here, and guitar, which I have played since I was a teenager.
